It was always the feeling: Mondial by Nadia case study cover, 26% average monthly revenue increase

In one of the toughest retail climates in recent memory, Mondial by Nadia has grown revenue by an average of 26% per month against the baseline month, across eleven consecutive months. The strategy worked and let me tell you why.

At a glance

  • Client: Mondial by Nadia, fine jeweller with sixty years of heritage

  • Engagement: 12 months with IGU Global

  • Result: strongest 12 months of trading since the business was founded

  • Revenue: average monthly increase of 26% against the baseline month

  • Recognition: Diamond Guild Australia Award, Fancy Colour category

Firstly, there’s a particular kind of business that you come across occasionally in my line of work where everything that needs to be there already is. The craft is real, the reputation is earned and the team is absolutely exceptional. I was actually blown away to hear the youngest staff member has been at Mondial by Nadia for ten years while the most senior is over twenty. That kind of loyalty doesn’t just happen by accident, and it doesn’t happen in a business that isn’t worth showing up for.

So what brought IGU Global in wasn’t at all a broken business, it was a brand that had simply outgrown its own already amazing story.

The problem wasn’t the product. It was the feeling.

Mondial by Nadia sits on sixty years of heritage, built originally around Argyle pink diamonds, natural coloured stones, and the kind of provenance that takes generations to establish, let alone maintain and hold on to. Nadia Neuman is the living heart and soul of that business today, an incredible designer who grew up behind the counter and never lost the instinct that was instilled in her from her parents, with a bold, unapologetic point of view on self-expression and an inspiring belief that jewellery should reflect the stories, memories and moments that actually define someone.

Both identities were real and both were powerful, but it was clear pretty early on that they were pulling in opposite directions without a single emotional home between them.

That’s cognitive dissonance for a customer. I remember thinking you don’t know which story you’re walking into and when a customer doesn’t know what to feel, they will only hesitate.

Always.

The first thing we did was fix that. Not with a rebrand or campaign. We got super clear on the emotional default of the business today and the one feeling Mondial is always delivering, regardless of what someone is buying or how they found the brand. That clarity on the brand and business then became the foundation and anchor for everything that followed.

The work that followed didn’t look like jewellery content and that was intentional.

We led with family, then with Nadia as a designer and maker showcasing her hands in the work, her design sensibility and most importantly her story and process. Only then did we finish and complete the story with the product, but even then it wasn’t to be shown or presented inside a glass cabinet or on a model, but lived-in and worn. The customer was always the subject. We did the deep work on psychometrics so they could be in the room with us at every decision. It meant the jewellery was always in service and in service of something our audience was already feeling.

This is the reversal most brands never make. It can feel counterintuitive, and the short-term metrics don’t reward it. Reach doesn’t tell you this is working. Follower growth doesn’t tell you this is working.

What tells you it’s working is what happens in real rooms with real people.

We built events that contributed to bringing the community to life with moments that simply couldn’t be manufactured online, conversations that happened because the brand had earned the right to have them. And out of that work came other things that no campaign budget can buy, like our relationship with Katerina Perez, one of the most respected voices in global jewellery, who came to Australia for the first time and spent time with Nadia and the team. She responded to the brand the way you want the world’s best people to respond. Organically, with conviction and because she could feel what was being sold as a brand.

Mondial by Nadia also took out the Diamond Guild Australia Award in the Fancy Colour category. It was such a lovely moment and it was recognition from within the industry that the work, and the brand behind it, belongs at that level.

Let me say it here, trust compounds no different to SEO. It doesn’t spike.

One of the things we were very intentional and deliberate about from the start was how we measured whether this was working or not. It’s crucial also because if not the temptation in any engagement is to reach for the numbers that are easiest to read and I’m proud to say we stayed disciplined and didn’t. We tracked sentiment, we tracked the quality of conversations, we tracked what people said and purchased unprompted, and how the industry was talking about the brand.

The one other thing I was deliberate about not doing was leading with technology.

For me AI is table stakes now, the same way having a laptop or Microsoft Office is table stakes. It doesn’t matter who’s using it first or using it fastest, it matters what you’re using it in service of, and if that’s not clear then the tool just moves you faster in the wrong direction.

What we never once lost sight of is that humans make decisions with emotion and justify them with logic afterwards. That’s not a philosophy, that’s neuroscience, and it doesn’t change because technology does. Trust is built on emotion and connection is built on emotion. It’s about understanding that and then using everything we have, including technology, so we could be more consistent, more resonant and more human, not less.

And that’s exactly what we did here.

I’ll say it again, trust builds the way SEO builds, it compounds and in the repetition becomes your reputation, across every channel, every conversation, every piece of content until the customer doesn’t even have to think anymore. They just simply know.

Ok so here’s what that produced.

Across the eleven months following the baseline month of IGU Global’s 12-month engagement, Mondial by Nadia recorded its strongest 12-month trading period since the business was founded with an average monthly revenue increase of 26% against the baseline month and all while in a market where most businesses were fighting just to hold ground.

That’s not a campaign result, that’s what happens when a team is willing to be uncomfortable, do things that feel different, get clearer on their customer and the feeling at the centre of every decision rather than the product, and to trust that the emotional work would do the commercial work.

None of this happens without the people who were already there. A business with that kind of staff tenure, with that kind of loyalty, that kind of design and craft doesn’t need to be fixed. It needs to be given a story equal to what it’s already built.

That’s what we did together.

And the numbers say the rest.

Special thanks to Nadia and the team for trusting me and grateful for being an ongoing part of this amazing business.
